Wulf explores our difficult history with the ungovernable wolves of the British Isles, which were persecuted to extinction hundreds of years ago. This project traverses the intersecting shadows of a violent history and the villainisation of the wolf in myth, in the face of present-day ecological degradation of British lands.
The wolf represents a wider societal dissolution with the wilderness as a lifeforce and place of sanctuary. This photographic investigation of its cruel demise acts as a vessel for grief of a wild Britain, degraded and defiled for profit.
The resulting book, In the Shadows of Noisome Beasts, is a visual collision of fiction, investigation and archive - it whispers hope that one day the forest may howl once more.
